Green Banded Broodsac
Leucochloridium paradoxum
Niche-noun, a position taken by an organism within it's environment
Sporocysts
This parasite has a very small role in the environment, and no impact on humans at all.
The Green Banded Broodsac has a very high biotic potential, but it has a very small role in the environment and can only use certain kinds of animals as hosts. It can only mature inside the digestive system of amber snails, from the family Succinea. However, it can reproduce in the stomach of many birds, including sparrows, crows, and finches. Even though there is a very high mortality rate in immature Green Banded Broodsacs due to not reaching the proper hosts, there is a stable population of them. This is because the females are constantly releasing eggs into the rectum of the bird host until the Green Banded Broodsac dies. The Green Banded Broodsac also has an extremely low role in the environment and no impact on humans at all.
