Living Evironment -noun, living parts of habitat

Parasite and its Hosts

The Green Banded Broodsac lives where its host does, which is in the temperate forests of the United States and Europe. It can also live in agricultural areas, as long as the temperature is not too high or too low. There are few limiting factors that inhibit the Green Banded Broodsac population, but the most prominent one is the failure to find the appropriate host. Lots of the eggs find their way into the wrong kind of snail, where they cannot mature and die inside the snail. Still, since the females release incredible amounts of eggs inside the rectum of the bird host, there is a high number of Green Banded Broodsacs alive today. A natural reaction that takes place when the snail is infected with the Broodsac is mind control. The Broodsac takes over the mind of the snail and, possibly by lowering its stress levels, forces it to march into the sunshine where they are more susceptible to being seen by a bird. The bird then eats the swollen eyestalks, and the bird becomes the host for the Green Banded Broodsac.

The parasite actually takes over the mind of the snail and forces it to obey the parasite.
